India vs Australia | Rohit Sharma responds to Tim Paine's sledge with a MI job promise
Rohit Sharma and opposition captain Tim Paine along with Aaron Finch had fans at home laughing after they were caught sharing a light moment at the crease. Paine was caught on audio promising Sharma that he would support Mumbai Indians if the latter smashed a six off the next delivery.
Team India displayed extreme batting prowess as they made their way to a mammoth total of 443/7 before declaring their innings towards the end of Day 2 at the MCG. Rohit Sharma, who missed the second Test in Perth, was influential towards the end of the Indian innings as he scored an unbeaten 63 off 114 deliveries.
However, the Mumbai-born batsman made headlines for other reasons as he was involved in a light-hearted incident on the pitch along with Aussie counterparts, Tim Paine and Aaron Finch. The Australian duo had cricket fans in tatters as they tried their best to sledge the Indian batsman who had come to the crease after the departure of Cheteshwar Pujara. The Australian captain even promised to support Mumbai Indians if Rohit hits a six on the next delivery which even had the latter smiling.
"I was hearing that but when I'm batting I just focus on the job at hand. But I had a chat with Ajinkya Rahane and I joked that if he (Paine) gets a hundred here, I will put in a word about him to my boss at Mumbai Indians and we'll buy him. Looks like he's a fan of Mumbai," Rohit said before the start of third day's play in Melbourne.
The Mumbai Indians skipper was also seen struggling a bit with his back on the second day but was deemed fit to take the field on Friday as the third day's play resumed. Sharma revealed that he had a chat with Virat Kohli about the same as the latter has had a few back issues of his own in the recent past.
"Not right now I'm fine. This is the first time I've had this issue. I had a chat with Virat because he's had it before. He says it's a recurring issue. I didn't feel anything yesterday but I have to be really careful from now on," Rohit added.
