India vs Australia | India’s bowling attack is as good as most of us have ever played, feels Tim Paine
Tim Paine has stated that the Indian team has a very strong bowling attack that most of the Australians have ever faced in their career. He also added that the team is feeling the absence of the two experienced players Steve Smith and David Warner in the batting line-up against the Indians.
The Australians went down to the Indian team by a margin of 137 runs in the Boxing Day Test match that concluded today at the MCG. The Aussie batsmen struggled against the pace trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma and Mohammad Shami during both the innings. The Kangaroos got bowled out for a mere 151 in the first innings with Bumrah getting six wickets while they showed some resistance in the second as they managed to amass 261 in 89.3 overs.
“I think it’s inexperience, it’s pressure, India’s bowling attack is probably as good as most of us have ever played,” Tim Paine said after the third Test, reported AFP.
Apart from Pat Cummins’ (63) effective batting lower down the order in the second innings, not a single Aussie batsman got a half-century in the third Test match which has now put them in a spot as far as the result of the series is concerned. The hosts will go into the Sydney Test 2-1 down in the series. Australia certainly missed the services of David Warner at the top of the order and Steve Smith in the middle as they are serving a one-year ban after the controversial sandpaper gate in South Africa earlier this year.
“I think it’s pretty clear that if you take two or three of the best players out of anyone’s line-up around the world, you’re going to struggle a little bit at times and you are going to have inconsistent performances,” the Aussie skipper mentioned.
“The silver lining is that we do have world-class players that are available soon to come back into this side, and clearly when they do they will make a huge difference.”
Captain Paine is looking forward to winning the final Test match at the SCG and he might go for a few changes in the team as well. He stated that they have the best group of players and a proper combination for the last Test will be in mind of the team management before the must-win encounter.
“I think they’ll be a lot of things on the table in the next day or two and of course I have some thoughts on what I think but I will share them with JL (coach Justin Langer) before I share them here,” he said.
“But I think we have the best group of players available to us at the moment and we’ll pick the best combination of that group that we think will win this last Test.”
