While MS Dhoni’s exploits behind the stumps have become a part of the Indian cricketing history, he has, time and again, tried his hand as a net bowler in practice sessions. Yesterday, ahead of the fifth ODI against South Africa, the veteran tried bowling leg-spin at Dinesh Karthik in the nets.

Ahead of the start of the fifth ODI, the Indian cricket team are looking forward to sealing the series after South Africa made a come back with a five-wicket win in Johannesburg. While the Indian wrist-spinners failed to make an impact in the game due to a wet ball after the rain delay, the former Indian skipper decided to take matters into his own hand as he took the charge of the ball during the net sessions.

In a recent video clip of India’s net practice in Port Elizabeth, the wicket-keeper was seen bowling leg-spin deliveries as it is expected that the spinners will get more help at the St. George's Park. While his deliveries were difficult to pick, the Jharkhand man, interestingly, overstepped the mark while delivering the ball. Overstepping has become a big concern for Indian bowlers recently as India lost the fourth ODI after Yuzvendra Chahal overstepped the line to give David Miller a life and in turn, he played an aggressive innings to secure a win for his team. Along with Dhoni, Axar Patel also seen bowling in the nets to Dinesh Karthik.

Apart from the batting and wicketkeeping record to his name, Dhoni has one ODI wicket in his account which he claimed in 2009 against Windies when he got the scalp of Travis Dowlin for 14 runs.
