Virat Kohli has heaped praise on in-form Kuldeep Yadav who put in a man of the match performance with the ball as India raced away to a comfortable win in the first ODI against England. Yadav picked up and an impressive tally of six wickets while giving away just 25 runs in his 10-over spell.

The Indian cricket team were off to a great start on their UK tour as they emerged victorious in the initial T20I series against Ireland and then defeated Eoin Morgan & Co. in the following series as well. But the real test was the three-match ODI series that followed and after a brilliant batting performance by Rohit Sharma and heroics with the ball by Kuldeep Yadav, India have taken the lead against the British.

While Rohit Sharma continued his explosive pursuits, it was Kuldeep who turned the heads with his six-fer after a terrible second T20I, following which he was benched for the deciding match. Skipper Kohli was very impressed by his chinaman bowler and even went on to state that he hadn't seen a spell like this.

"As clinical as it can be. We knew it was a really good wicket but wrist spin in the middle overs would be tricky. When they have 10 overs then know they have the skills to have an impact. Kuldeep was outstanding, I don't think I've seen a better ODI spell in a while. We want him confident because we know he can be a matchwinner - 50 over cricket, if you don't get wickets it's very difficult. [Kuldeep for the Test side?] There might be a few surprises there, we have a few days to pick the Test side. Looking at the England batsmen struggling we might be tempted to do that. The weather has been lovely, very welcoming. It's been good so far. It doesn't feel like we away from home. There's some tough cricket in front of us," Kohli said in a post-match interview.

Yadav has been in stunning form for the Indian team right from the start of this year in South Africa. The KKR spinner has picked up a total of 45 wickets from 21 ODI’s in 2018 at an economy rate of around 4.66. And with the upcoming Test series squad yet to be announced, Yadav revealed that he hoped to be part of that squad to face the England team in the five-match series.

"For me it's a big day. I started pretty well, luckily I got some early wickets. For me it doesn't matter where I'm playing. There was a little bit of turn. After the first over I felt in the game. If you are using your variations it's more difficult for the batsmen. I'm hoping for the Test squad, let's see," Yadav said in a post-match conference.
