I’d pick Sachin Tendulkar as the best with his style and his class, reveals Rahul Dravid
Rahul Dravid has revealed that he would choose Sachin Tendulkar as the best batsman he’s ever played with, in the entirety of his career. Dravid has further gone on to state that he would like to have had the flair and creativity of Brian Lara, undoubtedly one of the best of his generation.
Rahul Dravid was and is regarded as one of the most graceful players to have played the game of cricket over the years. And, in a recent video interview with ESPNCricinfo, Dravid was made to answer 25 questions from senior journalist Sharda Ugra on various issues regarding the sport of cricket, and there were a few surprises.
However, the first one was pretty simple as it would have been for any Indian to answer, When asked on who was the greatest batsman that he has played with, Dravid immediately referred to former teammate and batting legend - Sachin Tendulkar. The Indian Test legend was all praise for Tendulkar who amassed more than 18,000 runs in ODIs across a dazzling career that spanned an insane 24 years.
“The best guy I’ve played with was Sachin Tendulkar. In terms of quality and class. So I’d pick Sachin, at his best,” was Dravid’s answer to the question.
While he also added that he would like to have had Brian Lara’s flair and creativity that he displayed in his batting he also said he would have liked to have partnered former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar on the pitch.
"I would have loved to have partnered Sunil Gavaskar. And hopefully, Gavaskar would have gotten out when I was still batting and GR Viswanath would have walked in. That would have been cool. They were my childhood heroes growing up,” Dravid remarked.
Lovingly-nicknamed - The Wall, Dravid was also asked if he had the chance to against any bowler in today’s game, who would he choose. To that, he said, “If you’re counting Indian bowlers, Bhuvi (Bhuvneshwar Kumar) would be quite a challenge. Facing Bhuvi with the new ball with his ability to get the ball to move away and come back in would be a great challenge.”
