D’Arcy Short has admitted that the target of 151 in 12 overs was a tough task for Rajasthan Royals but they performed well with the bat to get close to the target. The left-handed opener has also pointed out that the second rain break made it difficult for the visiting team to get to the target.

Batting first in the match, Delhi posted a mammoth 196/6 from 17.1 overs before the rain interrupted the game again and the newly-revised target of 151 from 12 overs was given to Rajasthan Royals. Jos Buttler and D'Arcy Short batted brilliantly to give the Royals hope, scoring 67 off 29 balls and 44 of 25 balls respectively. Rajasthan Royals were in the match till the last over when 15 runs were needed off 6 balls, but Rahul Tripathi and Krishnappa Gowtham could only manage 10 off the last over bowled by Trent Boult. However, the team's opener D'Arcy Short feels that their batsmen have displayed good batting skills to get close to the target before falling short by four runs.

"It’s a tough loss for us. We would have liked to win today but chasing 150 off 12 overs is quite a tough task as well. We did quite well to get to where we did,” admitted D’Arcy Short, as quoted by Wisden India.

The revised target of 151 runs from 12 overs didn’t surprise Short, having known that the dominating position Delhi was in when rain stopped play for the second time.

“I don’t think we were surprised with that. I think they were 190 off 17 overs or 16 overs. We kind of knew that it is going to be quite high. We knew we had to go out and go out hard and that’s what we tried to do,” the left-handed batsman said.

Short, however, pointed out that the second rain break made it difficult for Rajasthan batsmen to chase it down.

“After the first rain, we thought it was still an even game but the second lot kind of makes it a bit difficult, when you only have 12 overs to chase 150 with Duckworth-Lewis. I think the second rain definitely hindered us a little bit.”

Rajasthan still have six games left ahead of the play-offs, and they have to win all the games for a possible playoff spot. Short feels that the task is not too difficult, and they will be banking on one game at a time rather than thinking too far ahead.

“Not so much, I think we are taking each game as it comes. I know we have to win each game, each game is kind of an elimination game from now on. I think we just have to have clear plans and stick to our plans. We all know what we need to do and have the confidence and back ourselves,” observed the highest run-getter in Big-Bash Premier League.
