Sunrisers Hyderabad had taken a huge gamble in appointing Kane Williamson as their skipper following David Warner's suspension after the sandpaper gate scandal. The Kiwi has led brilliantly so far with the latest instance coming as he save Yusuf Pathan’s wicket to take SRH to a crucial victory.

Williamson has filled in Warner’s shoes pretty well as far as the leadership is concerned. Despite the frequent batting collapse in most of their games, the captain has kept faith in their deep bowling attack and pulled off miracles to take Sunrisers Hyderabad to the top of the table. Saturday’s game was all the more crucial after Chennai Super Kings defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore in the early game to move up to the top of the table.

SRH needed a win to keep their position intact and the bowlers delivered again by restricting Delhi Daredevils to just 163 runs in 20 overs, Given the batting light line-up, the score was perfect for Hyderabad to chase and they started off well finishing the first six overs with 61/0 on the board. However, after Alex Hales was dismissed in the ninth over, the run rate got a hit with Shikhar Dhawan and Manish Pandey soon returning to the pavillion leaving Williamson and and a new-to-the-crease Yusuf Pathan a tricky target of 32 off 18 balls.

Pathan started nervously managing just four off the 18th over, but Williamson kept belief on the hard-hitter and he was getting into the groove by sending Trent Boult for a six when suddenly he was caught leg before the stumps with the field official raising his finger, Pathan was the last chance for SRH to stay in the game as Shakib-al-Hasan and Wriddhiman Saha were up next. And in that sour of the moment, Williamson looked adamant that the ball had pitched outside leg stump and forced Pathan to go for the review.

Quite amazingly, the HawkEye showed that 51 percent of the ball pitched outside leg. While Delhi fans would call it lucky, SRH fans know their skipper is intelligent and observant enough to come up with such calls in crunch situations. What happened next was quite expected, as Pathan hit two boundaries and a six to take the game to put the outcome beyond doubt before Williamson scoring the winning run.
