While celebration is an important aspect of any sport it could cause accidents too, especially in team sports were players hurdle after every breakthrough. A similar incident happened in the game between MI and RR when Jasprit Bumrah elbowed Rohit Sharma’s face after his scalp of D Arcy Short.

Following the massive win over Kolkata Knight Riders in the last game that had propelled Mumbai Indians to the four spot of the table, they could manage a meager target of 169 runs on Sunday after batting first against Rajasthan Royals. The very gettable target required a solid opening stand by Mumbai’s bowling unit if they were to continue their four-match winning streak.

To their utter delight, their strike bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, started off in a fierce manner. Rajasthan’s struggling batsman, Short, started off nervy from the very first ball that went for a boundary following a thick edge. It was followed by a horrendous wide delivery that went for a boundary as well, with Bumrah giving away 9 runs in one ball itself.

However, given how brilliant the Gujarat pacer is, he went on to beat Short for three consecutive balls before the going for the death. Short has been struggling with spin so far, and Bumrah proved that he wasn’t a good batsman of pace as well, as his back of a length and seaming delivery found Short helpless. He couldn’t control himself but to nudge it with the ball catching his outside edge before trickling into Ishan Kishan’s gloves.

Rohit Sharma, who had gone for a duck in the first innings, came running to celebrate with his star bowler. However, following his high-five with the skipper, Bumrah was fast to turn towards an incoming Krunal Pandya. In the process, his elbow struck Rohit Sharma’s nose who looked very much in discomfort and was busy recovering from it while his teammates celebrated.
