Women's World T20 | Smriti Mandhana confident of good showing from team
Smriti Mandhana has asserted she is confident that the Indian team will do well in the upcoming World T20 based on recent results where improvement was seen in every department. The Indians will start their campaign in the inaugural match against New Zealand at the Guyana National Stadium tomorrow.
The first independent Women’s World T20 begins tomorrow with two matches scheduled at the Guyana National Stadium. This event will be a huge stride forward for the Women’s cricket as it will be held as a standalone event unlike earlier when it was held along with the Men’s event.
From an Indian perspective, the Women’s Cricket team will be hoping to lift their first Trophy in the Caribbean as till now the best they have managed at a World T20 is to reach the semifinals. The captain of the side Harmanpreet Kaur will be hoping to keep the momentum her side has gained by defeating the Sri Lankan team alive.
“The Sri Lanka series has been really good. For me personally, I didn’t get really good scores, but one match, Harmanpreet and I didn’t score a single run and we got 170. That was brilliant.

Ramesh Powar, who played 31 ODIs for India and is the current coach of the Indian Women’s team, stated that the fans will get to see some good performances from the Women in Blue.
“They know that if we grow as individuals, the team grows, the Indian women’s cricket grows, and people will start noticing the game in India and around the world,” Powar told the ICC’s official website.
“When you enter such tournaments, you have to break records, get noticed as an individual and team also, so I’m looking forward to that,” he added.
