Reports | CoA asks Virat Kohli to tone down after "mean tweet" gaffe
After Virat Kohli’s comments in mean tweet gaffe went viral with the skipper on the receiving end scathing criticism for his hyper nationalist comments, the CoA has now asked him to be more “humble”. The skipper had later apologized for his comments through his Twitter account.
The incident took place during an app launch where Kohli was present. The skipper, who was supposed to read mean tweets and Instagram messages about him, came across a comment that had termed him as “overrated”. The comment had read, “Over-rated batsman and personally I see nothing special in his batting. I enjoy watching English and Australian batsmen more than these Indians.”
The skipper didn’t take the criticism lightly and responded, “I don’t mind you not liking me but I don’t think you should live in our country and like other things. Get your priorities right.”
His reaction had created a stir with the trolls jumping at the opportunity, while others alleging him of living in the bubble, being hyper-nationalistic, and even losing the perspective off the field. And according to reports by Mumbai MIrror, his comments didn’t go down well with the Supreme-appointed Committee of Administrators either who has apparently asked him to tone down a bit.
“He was told to be humble, in his interactions both with the press and the public,” a COA official was quoted, reported Mumbai Mirror.
