Justin Langer revealed that his team had enough of being ‘bashed up’ as they endured a difficult period over the summer and are determined to bounce back from that setback. Langer said that India were a very good team but hoped to give them a tough challenge in the coming months.

The Australian cricket team is undergoing a transitional phase ever since the whole ‘Sandpapergate’ fiasco earlier this year. The exit of Darren Lehmann and the bans handed out to David Warner and Steven Smith have definitely affected the national team who have endured a difficult summer so far. However, the recent T20 win against India ended the Aussies miserable run of four consecutive defeats in the shorter format and offered some much-needed hope to the Australian squad.

Australian head coach, Justin Langer, was quick to suggest that his team is tired of being ‘bashed up’ by critics and the media and are out to prove a point in the ongoing series against Virat Kohli & Co.

"What did it (the win) do the team? I loved seeing the way we were brave. We talked about it. Aussies are great at getting to a point where (we say): 'We have had enough of this. It doesn't matter what part of our summer - we have had enough of it.

"We have had enough of getting beaten, we have had enough of getting bashed up and I just loved how brave the boys were. The way they fielded, the way they batted, they were brave, they had a red-hot dip. That's what Australians are good at, aren't we? We get to a point - we say: 'You know what, we have had enough of this. When are we going to turn it around?," Langer was quoted in an interview with the 'Sydney Morning Herald'.

Australia edged out as narrow winners in the opening T20I against India as they defeated he visitors by just four runs at the Gabba in Brisbane. It was a rare win for Australia and just their second from five matches on home soil this summer.

"Hopefully, they were some really good signs. The way they ran around, dived around, there were some challenging overs with the bowling but let's not underestimate we are bowling to some great players as well. It's going to be an arm-wrestle all summer. India are a very good team but there are some really good signs," Langer added.
