Prasidh Krishna stated that he was mentally prepared to bowl the nerve-wracking Super Over against Delhi Capitals, where he did a prudent job. The KKR pacer further added that his stint at the MRF pace academy has helped him grow as a bowler and credited Glenn McGrath for his surge

In Prasidh Krishna, Kolkata Knight Riders have found an apt Indian pacer as a replacement for Vinay Kumar in the squad. The former did justify his selection and has been one of the most consistent bowlers in the last couple of years. Trusting Krishna to bowl the Super Over against Delhi Capitals is a testament to the kind of faith the team have in his abilities. Krishna lived up to the expectations by conceding 10 runs and a wicket in an over where batsmen fired with all cylinders. Krishna also said that he was mentally ready for the challenging opportunity.

“I was prepared for that (Super Over). In some corner of my mind, I had an idea that it will be me who will be bowling the Super Over. DK (Dinesh Karthik) and the team trust me. When he came and told me that I have to bowl the Super Over, I said I am all set for that. He was very happy. I was also excited that I am going to be one of those guys to bowl in a Super Over in IPL history. According to me, the entire result depends on the bowler who bowls in the Super Over. I love to take responsibility on my shoulders,” Prasidh told Timesofindia.com in an exclusive interview.

A product of MRF Pace Foundation and Cricket Australia’s Centre of Excellence under the mentorship of Australian pace great Thompson, the pacer can clock 145kph on a consistent basis despite having a lean body. On being asked about his physique, Krishna stated that he learnt a lot of from the duo and considering the fact that both McGrath and Thompson are different kinds of bowlers, it helped him gain a lot of knowledge about the craft.

“I would give credit to McGrath sir and Thomson sir for this. My trainers also worked a lot in keeping me fit and helped me get going. This wouldn’t have been possible without them,” the pacer added.

“They (Thomson and McGrath) are two different types of bowlers. I learnt a lot from both of them. McGrath told me what consistency is. He told me how I can trouble a batsman with consistency,” Prasidh said.

“Jeff sir told me about raw pace. He used to me tell me to go and take the batsman’s head off. He helped and taught me how to increase speed. I want to be quick and consistent. The bowling tips from both the legends will always be there with me till I play cricket and it is helping me a lot in my career."
