Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced, on Friday, that they have brought in former players, Brian Lara and Ramnaresh Sarwan, to help the West Indies batsmen prepare for the two-Test series against India. The series, which is part of the ICC Test Championship, will start in Antigua from August 22.

The West Indies have had a time tough against the touring Indians so far, losing the T20I series 0-3 and the ODI series 0-2. However, with the two-match Test series on the horizon, the hosts will go in with some confidence having beaten England in the longest format earlier in the year. To ensure a competitive series, the board has organized a pre-series camp in Antigua, where Lara and Sarwan will work with the players.

"We have taken the step to have Brian and 'Ronnie' work with these players, who have demonstrated a will to learn and succeed. We know they still have the passion and love for West Indies cricket and are eager to assist and share their information with the present generation," Jimmy Adams, CWI Director of Cricket, was quoted saying by Cricbuzz.

The West Indies have a core of young players at the helm right now with the likes of Shai Hope, Roston Chase, Shimron Hetmyer, John Campbell, Kraigg Brathwaite, and Darren Bravo expected to be a part of a setup for the next few years.

"We have some good young batsman in the team who we believe will form the future of West Indies cricket. We saw some very good signs of development earlier this year in the Test matches when we played so very well to beat England and we want to see them grow and become outstanding players for the West Indies," Adams explained.

With both teams looking to kick off their Test Championship on a good note, things will be exciting for the spectators in the stands.
