Sourav Ganguly confirms MSK Prasad-led BCCI selection committee’s exit
After the AGM, Sourav Ganguly has confirmed that the selection panel's tenures are over and they can not continue beyond what he called a 'good' tenure. However, it also means that the BCCI has gone by the old constitution that has a provision for a maximum of four years for the selectors.
One of India's most talked-about figures in the last three years, MSK Prasad has a name for himself with his solid penchant for backing unorthodoxy and although he came under severe scrutiny, he became the first Indian selector in a long long time to be clear about his selection process. However, as every story comes to an, a bittersweet one in Indian cricket, that saw some of the hinge points in the history of sport in India, has come to an end.
Sourav Ganguly has confirmed that the panel, comprising Prasad, Gagan Khoda, Jatin Paranjpe, Sarandeep Singh and Devang Gandhi, is done with their tenure. While Prasad and Khoda were appointed to India's selection panel, Paranjpe, Sarandeep Singh and Devang Gandhi joined in 2016, but as per the BCCI chief, none of the panel members would continue.
“Tenures are finished. You cannot go beyond your tenure. They have done a good job. We will fix a term for selectors and it is not right to appoint selectors every year," Ganguly said, reported Scroll.
