Former England skipper Michael Vaughan opined that only the current Indian team can conquer the Kangaroos Down Under. Having retained the Ashes in England, Australia recently whitewashed Pakistan in T20s as well as Tests at home as both the pacers and the top order put on a dominant show.
Australia have been impressive at home lately as they whitewashed Pakistan in both the T20 series as well as in the Tests. The top order, which failed comprehensively during the Ashes, and the pacers heroes of the victories. Opener David Warner’s triple century and Mitchell Starc’s 6 for 66 in the first innings along with Nathan Lyon’s 5 for 69 were enough to hand the visitors a crushing defeat by an innings and 48 runs to wrap up the whitewash.
Following the dominant performances by the Kangaroos, England’s former Ashes-winning skipper Michael Vaughan shared, on Twitter, that only the Indian side, who are currently boasting a six-match winning streak in the World Test Championship, has the skills to tame them in their den. Earlier in 2019, India managed to convincingly defeat the Tim Paine led Australian side at home 2-1, with Australia narrowly managing a draw in the third Test to prevent a 3-1.Â

With this victory in the second Test match, Australia took their unbeatable streak in D/N Tests to 6 as skipper Tim Paine expressed his joy over how their batters have made a comeback after a rather quite Ashes, where Steven Smith shouldered the whole batting unit alone. Alongside Warner, Marnus Labuschagne was the shining light of the series, with the right-hander scoring back-to-back centuries in the Test series.Â
“Really happy. Barring few slip-ups in the field yesterday, we played excellent cricket over the last two matches. We came back from England, we felt, we were getting better all the time. We wanted our batters to score big runs, when your six seven and eight are not facing lot of balls then your top-order is doing fine. David (Warner) and Marnus (Labuschagne) have been unbelievably good,” Paine concluded as per reports from Sportstar.
