Pacer Ashoke Dinda has been included in the Bengal side for the new Ranji Trophy season after he was left out of the team for Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Meanwhile, the CAB have decided to stick with Sudip Chatterjee despite his poor form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Having failed to make it to the knockout stages of both Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) is looking to make a mark in the Ranji Trophy this season. Gearing up for their opening encounter against Kerala, Bengal has named its 15-man squad for the fixture next week.

Bengal’s top wicket taker in first class cricket, Ashoke Dinda has been included in the squad after being omitted for Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. While Dinda thought of never representing the state after being neglected, he even refused to join the pre season practice until CAB secretary Avishek Dalmiya convinced him to do otherwise. Dinda roared in the practice match against Maharashtra at the Eden Gardens which caught the eyeballs of the selectors.

While there hasn’t been any major changes in the Bengal squad, the retention of an out of form Sudip Chatterjee having been overlooked for the Syed Mushtaq Ali meet. The CAB has put faith on the southpaw, even after his utter failure in Vijay Hazare Trophy, as it believes that following a week long session with batting consultant VVS Laxman the youngster will be able to find his lost touch.

The squad will be leaving the city on Saturday with the encounter against Kerala scheduled on Tuesday.

Here's the 15-man squad: Abhimanyu Easwaran (capt), Sudip Chatterjee (vc), Manoj Tiwary, Anushtup Majumder, Shreevats Goswami (wk), Abhishek Raman, Arnab Nandi, Ashoke Dinda, Ritwik Roy Chowdhury, Ishan Porel, Pradipta Pramanik, Shahbaz Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar, Koushik Ghosh, B Amit
