SA vs ENG | South Africa name six uncapped players in squad for first two Tests

South Africa have named a 17-man squad for the first two Test matches against England which includes as many as six uncapped players. Dane Paterson, Pieter Malan, Rassie van der Dussen, Beuran Hendricks, Dwaine Pretorius and Rudi Second have all been handed call-ups for the first Two Tests.

While everything around the South African national team seems to be crumbling apart, the side has turned to the youngsters as they try to fill the voids left by the former great players. The Proteas, like a Phoenix, are trying to rise from their ashes after being humiliated by two back-to-back whitewashes in Test cricket at the hands of India and Sri Lanka.

Six uncapped players - Dane Paterson, Pieter Malan, Rassie van der Dussen, Beuran Hendricks, Dwaine Pretorius and Rudi Second - have been named in South Africa's Test squad for the first two Tests against England to be played in Centurion and Cape Town, starting on December 26 and January 3 respectively.

While Keshav Maharaj makes a comeback after the shoulder injury he picked up against India, Lungi Ngidi misses out due to a hamstring tear. South Africa will be weary to regain their form as they have even steeper challenges to face in the future. Prior to the T20 World Cup, South Africa will be hosting Australia and India for a couple of limited over series before flying to the Caribbean for a Test series and a five-match T20 series against the Windies.

South Africa's squad for the first two Tests:Faf du Plessis (Titans, captain), Temba Bavuma (Lions), Quinton de Kock (Titans), Dean Elgar (Titans), Beuran Hendricks (Lions), Keshav Maharaj (Dolphins), Pieter Malan (Cape Cobras), Aiden Markram (Titans), Zubayr Hamza (Cape Cobras), Anrich Nortje (Warriors), Dane Paterson (Cape Cobras), Andile Phehlukwayo (Dolphins), Vernon Philander (Cape Cobras), Dwaine Pretorius (Lions), Kagiso Rabada (Lions), Rudi Second (Warriors), Rassie van der Dussen (Lions)
