Khaleel Ahmed has asserted that there was nothing that the Indian players could do about the unfortunate and controversial dismissal of Daryl Mitchell in the second T20I in Auckland. Mitchell was given out leg before wicket but hot-spot showed that he had got an inside-edge while RTS disagreed.

The Indian cricket team levelled the ongoing T20I series against New Zealand with a resounding seven-wicket win against the home team at Eden Park in Auckland. However, there was a highly controversial event that took place during the game against Kane Williamson & Co. Daryl Mitchell was given out leg before wicket controversially off a Krunal Pandya delivery in the sixth over of the first innings.

When the Kiwis immediately went for a review, and while hotspot suggested that the ball had hit the edge of the bat, RTS showed no spike when the ball went past the blade. The third umpire had no option but to go with the on-field umpire's call because there was no conclusive proof after using every possible weapon at his disposal. India pacer Khaleel Ahmed later revealed that there was nothing the Indian players could have done but wait for the umpire to make a decision.

"We were just waiting for umpire's call because we can't do anything in that decision. Whatever the umpires said we just accepted it," Khaleel said at the post-match press conference, reported News 18.

Ahmed, who was clinical with the ball and picked up two wickets as well, spoke about how stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma had alerted the bowlers about the shorter boundaries at Eden Park.

"Yes, we had a discussion regarding the shorter boundaries. Rohit Sharma did tell us about the boundaries and where we should target the batsmen and how we should plan our bowling. We spoke about this alot and I am happy we were able to execute the plan well," Ahmed said.

Talking about the final game of the tour in Hamilton which will decide the winner of the T20I series, Ahmed added that the Indians will be filled with confidence as they have played there before and know the pitch conditions well.

"We have already played one match in Hamilton before, so we know how the pitch is going to be behave and we will prepare accordingly. Since we have won this match so the confidence will be there with us.

"The players who have performed well will be booming with confidence and the players who couldn’t, they’ll get a chance to rectify that and play the third match and win it," added Khaleel.

The most entertaining moment of the press conference came when the pacer was asked is India missed Kohli, who was allowed a break midway through the ODI series against the Kiwis. The pacer immediately let out a chuckle and then tried to answer the question but to no avail as after a couple of words and a proper laugh, all he could come up with was, "Next question."
