The Supreme Court has appointed Lt. Gen Ravi Thodge as the third member of the CoA to supervise the administration of the BCCI. The bench has taken the decision after Vinod Rai and Diana Edulji, the present members, aired their differences on matters in public and the duo was warned for it.

A bench comprising Justices S A Bobde and A M Sapre appointed the first ombudsman for the BCCI after which the Supreme Court also named the third member for the CoA along with the present body comprising Vinod Rai and Diana Edulji. The decision was taken in light of a sequence of incidents where the CoA failed to maintain discipline and decorum in administrative matters concerning primitive affairs such as the appointment of new head coach for the Women's team, the sexual harassment case against BCCI CEO Rahul Johri and the Hardik Pandya-KL Rahul talk-show controversy.

"Having regard to the importance of the said Committee of Administrators for administering the BCCI, we consider it appropriate to appoint Lt Gen Ravi Thodge, PVSM, to act as a third member of the aforesaid Committee of Administrators for BCCI," the bench stated in its order, reported Cricbuzz.

The committee initially was comprised Vikram Limaye and Ramchandra Guha along with Rai and Edulji but the former duo had stepped down from their positions. The present body was warned for their blameworthy act after their remarks upon differences on various matters in public. The BCCI is set to conduct elections for its office bearers after complying with the new constitution, registered in August 2018.
