It is quite incredible how humans have always been capable of borrowing things and make it better. MS Dhoni’s “helicopter shot”, which became famous for its efficiency to pluck off a yorker for a six, was tweaked by Hazratullah Zazai to pull off an unstoppable boundary against Ireland.

Afghanistan’s rise in world cricket has been quite phenomenal. To think a suppressed nation could have some many cricketing talents that could change the face of the game forever is quite unbelievable. In the likes of Rashid Khan, Mohammad Shahzad, Mujeeb-ur-Rahman, and more with their unique talents, Afghanistan look like a side that would create ripples in the limited-over cricket.

While they are way below in the pecking order and hardly get a chance to go against the big players, they have been regularly playing with associate nations and have pretty much obliterated them in the limited-over format. The most recent example would be their ongoing T20I series against Ireland.

After an easy five-wicket win over Ireland in the first match, Afghanistan wanted to all but seal the series in Saturday and their opening duo helped their cause with an incredible 236-run partnership. While Usman Ghani played the stabilizer, it was Hazratullah Zazai. He ended the innings unbeaten at 162 runs off 62 balls and he ended things the way he had started.

His shots in the powerplay was a clear enough indication of what he intended to do throughout the game, and one of the highlights was his helicopter shot against Peter Chase in the fifth over. After hitting a six on the fourth ball, Zazai was expecting a fuller ball next. Chase did almost exactly that as his full length ball was a slower one. However, Zazai positioned himself beautifully and used his wrists to drill the ball towards the right of mid-off with a familiar Dhoni-esqe swing.
