ICC World Cup 2019 | I don’t take praise or criticism seriously, reckons Jasprit Bumrah
Jasprit Bumrah has said that he remains unfazed by praise or criticism and focuses on his preparation for the team. Bumrah certainly holds the key to India’s success in the knockout stages as he has been instrumental with the ball for India and has done extremely well in the tournament.
Bumrah’s rise in international cricket has been mesmerizing. The currently ranked one bowler in ODI cricket, Bumrah has been a force to be reckoned with the new ball as well as with the old one. With India finishing as table-toppers in the league stages of the World Cup, they will now face New Zealand in the semi-final. Bumrah has received accolades from many for his brilliant performances but has said that he remains unfazed by praise and criticism.
“I don’t take praise or criticism seriously. The only focus for me is on my preparation, my execution and what I can do for the team. I always focus on all that and as far as the bowling unit is concerned we are very happy that everyone is among the wickets and everyone is contributing,” Bumrah said, reported IANS.
India face a selection conundrum ahead of the high-voltage semi-final. All their bowlers have done well and picked wickets at crucial junctures. Mohammed Shami has been in blistering form but was rested in the last group stage encounter against Sri Lanka. Bumrah sheds light on the issue and considers this as a healthy competition where everyone is performing and have done well.
“You see Hardik Pandya taking wickets, you see Mohammed Shami taking wickets and I’ve also taken wickets, so that’s the positive for us going forward. Everybody’s had a good run here. It’s been a good campaign for us, everybody has chipped in with wickets and with the bat. There’s a healthy competition. It’s a good headache to have when everyone’s performing and everyone’s in good nick and that’s something you love to have going into a crucial game like next week’s semi-final,” he explained.
