Kuldeep Yadav has stated that he or Yuzvendra Chahal didn’t oust either of Ravichandran Ashwin or Ravindra Jadeja, rather they just made use of their opportunities. The wrist-spinner has also added that Shaun Marsh has studied his bowling really well and played him efficiently to gain success.

Since India turned to Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal in late 2017s, Ravichandran Ashwin hasn’t required his limited-overs India colours even once. While his partner-in-crime Ravindra Jadeja finally made it back to the team, opportunities for Ashwin has been hard to come by. While many believe the success of Kuldeep and Chahal are the reason for this situation, the former believes that they were successful in using the opportunities in the right manner and didn’t oust anyone.

"No, no, not at all. We haven't ousted anyone. It's just that we have got the opportunities and we did well. They (Ashwin and Jadeja) have always been doing well for India. In Test matches, Ash (Ravichandran Ashwin) and Jaddu Bhai (Ravindra Jadeja) are still playing," Kuldeep said during the press conference, reported ToI.

"And we learn a lot from them. They have a lot of experience. When I am in the Test squad, I learn a lot from them. Whenever we got an opportunity, for me and Chahal, we have performed for the team and that helped the team to win, so happy about it."

India decided to rest Chahal for the first ODI, giving a chance to Jadeja so as to settle their final XI for the World Cup. The Saurashtra all-rounder was successful in using the opportunity in the right way as he conceded only 33 runs in 10 overs which put a lot of pressure on Australia. Kuldeep is happy that all the spinners are doing well for the team.

"To be honest, me, (Yuzvendra Chahal) and Jaddu Bhai (Ravindra Jadeja) are playing really well so nothing much to worry about and we are focusing game by game," the Uttar Pradesh spinner said.

Kuldeep’s success is majorly down to the fact that he is brilliant in hiding his variations, often confusing the batsmen until the last second on his delivery stride. If the ball does the trick off the surface, that becomes double whammy for the batsmen, and Kuldeep is well aware of that. On being asked if he has ever felt pressure while bowling to any batsmen, the spinner singled out Shaun Marsh for that.

"Shaun Marsh is a very good player of spin bowling. In Australia, Shaun Marsh was playing really well (against me) and they (team management) wanted to give me a break for a couple of games. After that I studied Marsh's batting and saw him playing a lot of deliveries on the front-foot and it paid off. But it will be important how I bowl to him in the next game if he plays," Kuldeep concluded.
