Mayank Agarwal hopeful of taking his good form into IPL
After winning the Man of the Match in the final of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Mayank Agarwal has said that he wants to carry his good form into the upcoming IPL. The Karnataka batsman played an unbeaten knock of 85 in just 57 balls to take his state team home in the finals of the T20 tournament.
Kings XI Punjab batsman Mayank Agarwal was delighted to get some runs under his belt in what was his final competitive match before the 12th edition of the IPL. Before the match-winning performance in the finals, his other two notable scores were 43 and 33 against Delhi and Uttar Pradesh respectively. Maharashtra played well to set a target of 156 for Karnataka. However, Agarwal stitched a second wicket partnership of 92runs with Rohan Kadam (60) to clinch the match.
"I hadn't been getting as many runs during the league stages but I am happy that I made a comeback and got a lot of runs in the knockouts," Agarwal said after the match, reported Cricbuzz.
"Under
Agarwal had been performing consistently in the domestic tournaments in the past two years for Karnataka. He was the highest run-getter in the Ranji Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy, eventually, after a long wait, he made his Test debut for India against Australia on December 26 and scored 76 in his maiden appearance in the national team.
"The talk in the dressing room is all about winning tournaments and we all as a team try and work hard to win at least one or two tournaments every year. We are happy that we ended on a high," the batsman concluded.
The opener will play for Kings XI Punjab in the IPL, starting on March 23, however, his teams’ first match is scheduled to be played on March 25 against Rajasthan Royals.
