IPL 2019 | We are not the fastest team but we can be the smartest, claims Dwayne Bravo
Dwayne Bravo admits that the current Chennai Super Kings squad may not be the fastest but can definitely work to be the smartest amongst all the IPL teams this season. Bravo performed well in last night’s win against Delhi Capitals and ended with figures of 3/33 from his four overs.
Chennai Super Kings played a masterstroke by bringing in Dwayne Bravo from Mumbai Indians which gave MS Dhoni’s squad a strong all-rounder with bundles of experience a few seasons before in the IPL. Bravo has been a mainstay in the Super Kings squad and the tean management once again showed faith in the all-rounder by using their Right To Match card during the 2018 IPL auction.
The talented Windies’ cricketer was once again instrumental during last night’s win at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi as he picked up the wickets of the dangerous Rishabh Pant and the in-form Shikhar Dhawan during his four-over spell. Bravo is adamant that the current CSK squad is out to prove their doubters wrong just like they did last season.
“We proved last season age is just a number. Whenever talked about CSK, they brought in the age factor. We are not 60 years old. We are 35, 30, 32, . We are still young; we look after ourselves, we look after our buddies, and we have a lot of experience, and you can’t beat experience in any sport tournament.
“We know we are not the fastest team on the field. We play within our strengths, we know our weaknesses. We stay smart. We have the best captain in the world, and he keeps reminding us that we’re not the fastest team, but we can be the smartest team,” Bravo said at the post-match conference in Delhi.
MS Dhoni’s side made it two wins from two games and will hope to carry on with the same momentum over the course of the next month. CSK will next take on Rajasthan Royals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium at Chepauk, Chennai on March 31.
