IPL 2019 | “You destroyed my day” - Sanju Samson tells David Warner
In an interview to IPL official website, Sanju Samson told David Warner that he destroyed his century and they needed to score 250 if the opposition has a player like Warner. The Australian has also praised the Indian youngster, calling Samson’s stay in the middle as a “serious innings” in the IPL.
Sanju Samson hit a magnificent ton against Sunrisers Hyderabad and in the company of Ajinkya Rahane, he made sure that the Royals put up a significant score like 198 in the first innings. “You destroyed my day. My 100 was not enough because of the way you batted. The way you started the innings we lost the game in the powerplay. We needed some 250 on the board with someone like you in the opposition. It was special,” Samson told Warner.
The Australian cricketer, who made his “home return” to Hyderabad special by playing an excellent knock, was all praise for the Kerala youngster, saying that he showed the way to bat on a tricky surface and his maturity goes beyond his age.
“We didn’t get off to a good start,
Shikhar Dhawan is no more with Sunrisers Hyderabad and that’s why Warner had to gel well with Jonny Bairstow with whom he is currently opening the innings. The duo managed to strike together so fast as they added 110 in the first 10 overs for the opening wicket against the Royals. Warner stated that they have partnered really well since the first game in Kolkata.
“
“We know this ground pretty well. We know the dimensions well. There has been a breeze from one side for the last two days but tonight it wasn’t there. You have to be calculative with your batting,” he said.
