IPL 2019 | IPL management will look into Virat Kohli-Nigel Llong incident, says CoA
An unnamed Committee of Administrator (CoA) member has confirmed that there has been a mail that has come in from the Karnataka Cricket Association (KCA) regarding the Virat Kohli-Nigel Llong incident. The RCB skipper confronted Llong over a contentious no-ball decision on Saturday.
The Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) have been the go-to personnel regarding any and every issue that occurs on the domestic cricket circuit since the last year or so. In a recent interview with TOI, an unnamed CoA member has given official confirmation that the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has sent them a mail regarding ICC Elite Panel umpire Nigel Llong breaking a door in the umpires' room following an argument with Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli.
The incident in question occurred during RCB’s last home game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday. A CoA member confirmed that the mail had been sent and that the IPL management will have a look at the issue.
"Yes, a mail has come in and the IPL management will look into the matter and the procedure that needs to be followed," the CoA member told TOI sources.
Llong lost his cool after being confronted by Kohli over a contentious no-ball call against Kane Williamson-led SRH in Bengaluru over the weekend. Post the on-field argument, Llong painted a frustrated figure as he made his way to the umpires' room at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium during the innings break and kicked at the door in anger.
Following the incident, KSCA secretary R Sudhakar Rao sent an email to the CoA demanding action against Llong. Reports further revealed that Llong, who has officiated 56 Tests, 123 ODIs and 32 T20Is, paid Rs 5000 after he was confronted by the KSCA over the damage. The Englishman is also scheduled to officiate in the IPL final scheduled for May 12.
