Although the CoA had sent the accounts and balance sheets to the office-bearers to clear them, the committee is yet to send any notice to incumbent office-bearers to attend the AGM on October 23. CoA had issued an advisory for the AGM, which is also slated to see the elections, on October 23.

Ending years of doubts and speculations, the BCCI is finally entering to the world of proper administration as the board will go into the election on October 23 at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai. While the election has already gone into controversy, thanks to the CoA's decision of debarring Tamil Nadu Cricket Association, Haryana Cricket Association and the Maharashtra Cricket Association from participating in the upcoming BCCI Annual General Meeting and election after that, as their respective constitutions are not in line with the Supreme Court-approved constitution.

Now, the Times of India reported that, in another controversial step, incumbent office-bearers - acting president CK Khanna, acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary and treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry - have not been invited to attend the upcoming general body meeting (AGM) on October 23. However, the CoA had sent the accounts and balance sheets to the office-bearers to clear them, bringing further uncertainties about their participation to the fore.

"The office-bearers have been waiting for the CoA to ask them to attend the AGM. Once the accounts were sent to get their signatures, they anticipated that they would also be called for the meeting. But nothing of that sort has happened. The BCCI constitution says that the president should chair the AGM," a senior BCCI official told TOI on Wednesday.

"The CoA can't subvert the constitutional rights of the office-bearers. All the bitterness between the office-bearers and CoA aside, the three office-bearers need to be present to demit office at least. These office-bearers were recognized by the Supreme Court. BCCI's tradition has been that the incumbent office-bearers hand over the duties to the newly elected ones. The incumbent office-bearers' role is to clear all doubts regarding documents and accounts that may crop up from any member on the day," the official said.

Now, it is left to be seen if at all, the committee does extend the courtesy to the old guards ahead of the election.
