Yuzvendra Chahal has commented that he would like to forget about the team’s semifinal loss against New Zealand in the recently-concluded ICC World Cup. Chahal, who was rested for the T20I series against South Africa, has been participating in the Vijay Hazare trophy in the meantime.

Team India, after dominating the round-robin stages of the 2019 World Cup, crashed out of the tournament in a rain-hit encounter after losing to New Zealand in the semifinals. It was a heart-breaking moment for many Indian cricket fans when MS Dhoni was dismissed and made his way to the dressing room, and Chahal said he was crying literally. Chahal commented that the regret that he feels after losing the World Cup, would remain with him until team India wins the T20 world cup.

“We played so well for 9 games but suddenly we were going out of the tournament. The rain wasn’t in our hands and so it won’t be right to say anything (about the interruption). It was the first time that we really wanted to go back to the hotel as soon as possible from the ground,” Chahal was quoted as saying by PTI.

Several players including Chahal might find it difficult to make it into the playing XI for team India during the T20 World Cup as the team management is looking for greater stability in the batting department, lower down the order. The T20 series against West Indies and South Africa saw the team experimenting with this strategy.
