For the second time in 3 days, India and England will lock horns with each other in an enthralling encounter and will be hoping to kick-start the month of June on a winning note. While England will be looking to bounce back from a heavy defeat, India, meanwhile, will be looking to make it 2 in row.

Form Guide

India - W L W L W

Remarkably, the pattern of winning and losing in alternate games has somehow continued to haunt India till this very date, with the trend becoming vigorous in the past couple of weeks or so. Having lost three and won three of their last six games, the Men in Blue have bizarrely turned up to work only every alternate day. However, they would be hoping for that trend to die today, as should it continue, it would mark yet another defeat for Virat Kohli’s men.

England - L W W W L

Unlike India, England have been much more consistent with their results, but they, too, against the run of play, suffered a pretty shocking defeat at the hands of New Zealand on Sunday. But having won 3 of their last 5 encounters and having beaten India in the last H2H clash, the Three Lions would definitely be hopeful of putting one past the Men in Blue for the second time in three days.

Game Day Watch

It was as usual business for the Men in Blue in their previous encounter versus the Saffers on Sunday, with them decimating the Proteas bowling attack to register a convincing 8-wicket win. In fact, such was India’s dominance that they chased down 172 in just 18 overs.

In stark contrast, however, England suffered an embarrassment at the hands of New Zealand on Sunday, with them getting bowled out for a paltry 86. It was an out-and-out forgettable, disastrous display that they would be hoping to put behind quickly.

Key Batsmen

Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma’s consistency has stood out throughout this competition and yet again, in India’s previous encounter against South Africa on Sunday, the 33-year-old starred, scoring an unbeaten 67 to steer his side home. Having scored 180 runs in his last 3 games, Rohit is in red-form and will undoubtedly be India’s biggest weapon heading into their clash against England today. Given the fact that he scored 70 in the previous H2H encounter, it is almost unsurprising as to why he’s being deemed the favourite to do so, yet again.

Eoin Morgan

An underrated commodity in this English side, skipper Eoin Morgan, thanks to the top-order almost always firing, has had limited opportunities to shine in this SRL but he showcased his true class against the Kiwis on Sunday. Remarkably, despite England folding for 86, Morgan scored a fifty and accounted for a staggering 60% of the team’s total runs. Should their top-order let them down today, England will still be optimistic about their chances, for they know their skipper is in impeccable form.

Key Bowlers

Shardul Thakur

Often overshadowed by both Bumrah and Saini, Shardul Thakur’s consistency has started to pay rich dividends for the right-armer and the same has been evident through his performances of late. It was Thakur’s three-wicket haul on Sunday which dented the Proteas and in the last H2H encounter versus the Three Lions, too, Thakur ended up as the best pacer for the Indians. Should England not take Thakur’s threat seriously, it might spell trouble for them.

Jofra Archer

Jofra Archer simply has found it impossible to stop taking wickets and on a miserable Sunday evening versus the Kiwis, the 25-year-old ended up being the only shining light for England. With 6 wickets in his last 3 SRL encounters, Archer will enter into the India contest in red-hot form and will be hoping to replicate what he’s been doing relentlessly day in and day out for the past five games or so - take wickets.
