Staying grounded hallmark of Sachin Tendulkar’s greatness, asserts VVS Laxman

VVS Laxman has stated that one of the reasons behind Sachin Tendulkar’s greatness is the legendary batsman’s quality of staying grounded despite a remarkable career. Earlier, Laxman announced, on Twitter, that he will be paying tributes to his teammates and Tendulkar was the first one to receive it.

Former India batsman VVS Laxman, on Sunday, took to Twitter and heaped praises on his former teammate and legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar. On Saturday, Laxman had announced that pay tributes to his teammates, who had inspired him during his career. Following that, Tendulkar was the first to receive the respects of his former teammate.

Laxman, who made his international debut in 1996, played 134 Tests and 86 ODIs for Team India. Out of these international appearances, Laxman shared the field with Tendulkar in 120 Tests and 50 ODIs, respectively. According to Laxman, one of Tendulkar’s greatest qualities was remaining grounded despite his remarkable achievements. 

"His trail-blazing career is the stuff legends are made of, but even more endearing is his commitment, passion & respect for the game that made him what he is. Staying grounded despite the adulation he received is a remarkable quality, one of the hallmarks of his greatness @sachin_rt," Laxman wrote on Twitter. 

"I have been very fortunate throughout my career to have played alongside men who inspired through their deeds. There are lessons to be learnt, like I did, from the way they carried themselves. Over the next few days, I'll be paying tribute to teammates who influenced me immensely," he said.
