After scoring a match-winning 77 against Australia on Sunday, Jos Buttler is set to miss the final T20I of the series owing to personal reasons. The wicketkeeper-batsman has left the bio-secure bubble with an intention of joining the squad following the end of the T20I series before the first ODI.
Following a match-winning 77 against Australia at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton, England’s limited-overs opener Jos Buttler will miss out on the final T20I owing to personal reasons. The opening-batsman was integral to the English T20I setup this summer, with his performance noteworthy against the No.1 T20I side, Australia.
As an integral part of the Three Lions setup, the right-handed Buttler had spent close to two months in the bio-secure bubble, being part of the Test setup against West Indies and Pakistan before making his mark in the limited-overs series against Pakistan. The batsman was also seen in action in the recently concluded two T20Is against Australia. ECB confirmed the same via press release on Monday, ahead of the third contest at the Ageas Bowl.
“He will miss England’s final Vitality IT20 against Australia on Tuesday at the Ageas Bowl,” the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said in a statement.
However, the batsman would be available for selection ahead of the first ODI at Emirates Old Trafford, starting on Friday.
“Buttler, subject to testing, will return to the bio-secure bubble on Thursday ahead of the first ODI of the Royal London Series at Emirates Old Trafford on Friday,” the statement read.
