New Zealand Cricket (NZC) have reportedly given the green light for the Kiwi international players to feature in the remainder of IPL 2021 that is set to be played in the month of September in UAE. Australia and England are, however, yet to confirm the participation of their players.

In what comes as a huge relief for franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL), all New Zealand players are set to feature in the remainder of the 2021 edition of the IPL thanks to New Zealand Cricket (NZC) reportedly having given the green signal to the players. Owing to international commitment, the likelihood of both English and Australian players featuring in the second half of the competition looks slim, and players from both countries have hinted at the same.

But while NZC and New Zealand players had stayed silent on the matter, a report from cricket.com has revealed that the Kiwis are all set to partake in the tournament after being given the go-ahead by the board.

“We are much relieved now. BCCI are in talks with English and Australian boards to come to a consensus regarding this. Given April and May are earmarked for the IPL, they are right to raise their own objections but we are now confirmed to witness New Zealand players in action,” cricket.com quoted a franchise official as saying.

While Australian limited-overs skipper Aaron Finch publicly made it clear that he would want the first-team players to be with the national team a month ahead of the WT20, in order to bolster preparation, both the ECB and England skipper Eoin Morgan have also confirmed that national duty will be prioritized.

NZC giving the green signal should come as good news for SRH, MI and RCB, who hold the services of Kane Williamson, Trent Boult and Kyle Jamieson respectively. Weeks before postponement, SRH had in fact made Williamson the full-time skipper of the franchise.
