Suryakumar Yadav has praised two youngsters, Tilak Varma and Dewald Brevis saying that both of them bat with a lot of positivity and have a wide variety of shots. Tilak has scored 157 runs from five matches in IPL 2022 while Brevis has scored 86 runs from three matches in the tournament so far.

IPL 2022 has turned out to be a poor campaign for Mumbai Indians as they have lost all of their five games so far. However, the rise of youngsters in their squad has been one of the positives for the team. Tilak Varma has shown his class and temperament scoring 157 runs from five matches at 39.25 and an impressive strike rate of 160.20.Ā

Dewald Brevis came into the tournament on the back of a brilliant campaign in the U-19 World Cup. Brevis, also nicknamed asĀ  ā€˜Baby AB De Villiersā€™ has lived up to his reputation with 86 runs from three matches including a decisive knock in the last game against Punjab Kings. Suryakumar Yadav praised both of the batters for the way they have performed so far in the tournament.Ā

"I think they have come to one of the best franchises and so many people around them, amazing team management and great captain. Actually, I do not need to give any advice to them. They have been working really hard since they arrived here and they have been doing a wonderful job. Looking at them, I sometimes feel that if I had these many shots at that age and the way they are playing, so much positivity, I feel they are going to make it big soon," Suryakumar Yadav said to NDTV during a virtual press conference on Friday.

MI have suffered a torrid start so far but the team has shown their ability to bounce back in the past. In the 2014 season, the team had lost five games but still managed to reach the playoffs. Over the years, MI have earned a reputation of bad starters but they somehow gain their rhythm as the tournament progresses. Reflecting on their start to the tournament, Suryakumar believes that the team will catch up for sure in the upcoming games.Ā

"See, it is something I am sure no franchise would like to lose a few games and then catching up again. But we are trying our best to entertain everybody as we have done before. We will surely catch up,ā€ he stated.

He also added that the performance of youngsters like Tilak and Brevis is a big positive for the team.

"There have been a lot of positives, not a few. You can see Dewald Brevis, Tilak Varma and many more new faces. As you have seen it was a fresh auction, we have been building this team for the next 2-3 years. Coming down the years, you will see many great players coming out of this team and talking about myself, I have been sticking to what I love doing and it is reflecting in the game. I am very happy about it," he remarked.
