As per a report by Times of India, Kolkata Knight Riders are interested in signing Shreyas Iyer as their captain for the IPL 2022 after being released by Delhi Capitals (DC). Iyer has previously captained DC in IPL 2020 and guided the franchise to the summit clash in the 13th edition of the league.

IPL 2022 will be an exciting edition with the inclusion of two new franchises and a mega auction ahead of the 15th edition of the cash-rich league. The eight IPL teams, who was part of the recent season in the cash-rich league have already submitted their final retentions ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction.

The franchisees will now look forward to building a strong squad for the upcoming season as teams will bid for players in the IPL 2022 mega auction. India middle-order batsman, Shreyas Iyer was not retained by the Delhi Capitals (DC) ahead of the mega auction. The Delhi-based franchise have retainedĀ Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, Prithvi Shaw and Anrich Nortje for the IPL 2022.

As per a report by the Times of India, Kolkata Knight Riders are interested to sign Shreyas Iyer as a captaincy option. Iyer has previously captained Delhi Capitals in IPL 2020, and he guided the franchise to the summit clash in the same season. The 27-year-oldĀ also scored 519 runs at an average of 34.60 in the 13th edition of the IPL. Overall in IPL, Iyer has scored 2375 runs from 87 matches, which includes 16 half-centuries.Ā The right-hand batsman has so far played two Tests, 22 ODIs and 32 T20Is for India.

KKR has so far won two IPL titles, both under the leadership of Gautam Gambhir in the 2012 and 2014 seasons of the IPL.
