Temba Bavuma has said that he wants to play in the IPL and aspire to captain one of the teams in the league. Bavuma also added that it is very nice to see many South African cricketers doing well in this year’s edition citing the examples of Kagiso Rabada, Marco Jansen, and Aiden Markram.

India are set to host South Africa for a five-match T20I series from June 9 after the conclusion of IPL 2022. Temba Bavuma will lead the visitors and he has been improving his exploits in the shortest format with 501 runs in 21 matches so far. Many cricketers aspire to play in the IPL and Temba Bavuma is also one of them. Bavuma revealed that he wants to captain an IPL side in the future.

"I would like to play there. The stronger my performances, the more realistic the opportunity becomes. I've also developed this fantasy of captaining a team. I don't know where that comes from. I'd like to get that experience as well. But I kinda need to get into a team before that happens!" Bavuma told Cricket Monthly.

South Africa have arrived in India with their full-strength squad as they gear up for the series. Many South African cricketers participated in the IPL and were impressive with their performances. Kagiso Rabada was the strike bowler for Punjab Kings while Aiden Markram played as an all-rounder for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Bavuma stated that it was nice to see his teammates performing well in the IPL.

"It's nice to see some of our guys doing well. KG (Kagiso Rabada) is en route to being the quickest to 100 wickets. That's something to be proud of. And Marco Jansen -- how he has gone and performed. Or Aiden (Markram)," he explained.

"And even the younger guys who have showed their ability. There is a lot of talk about Dewald Brevis. He is an exciting prospect for our cricket. And Tristan Stubbs, getting a go. It's been nice to see those guys."
