Delhi Capitals (DC) won back-to-back matches for the first time in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 following their 17-run victory over Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Monday in Match 64 of IPL 2022 at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai. They reached 159/7 after Mayank Agarwal won the toss and opted to bat, and then restricted PBKS to 142/9. The Rishabh Pant-led franchise had reduced PBKS to 67/6 and then 82/7, but Jitesh Sharma's 34-ball 44 prevented them to register a big-margin win. For DC, Shardul Thakur took four wickets for 36, while Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel returned 4-28 off their combined seven overs.
Earlier in the game, DC were in a strong position after losing David Warner on the first ball. They were 98/2 in 10.4 overs, but slipped to 112/5 in quick time. Mitchell Marsh stabilised the innings, scoring 63 off 48 balls, with four fours and three sixes. For PBKS, Liam Livingstone returned excellent figures of 3-27, and Arshdeep Singh 3-37, but they were not enough to endure a defeat.
