Gujarat Titans' mentor Gary Kirsten praised Wriddhiman Saha saying that he understands his game and plays really well in the first six overs. Kristen further added that he backs his strengths as well as abilities and is great while playing against short deliveries so far in the IPL 2022.

Gujarat Titans secured yet another win in the IPL 2022 against Chennai Super Kings after being secured a playoff spot. GT beat Chennai Super Kings by seven wickets in a dominating display. Wriddhiman Saha has played a crucial role for the team with his batting contributions in the tournament so far. Saha has scored 281 runs from eight innings at 40.14 including three half-centuries.

In the game against CSK, he scored 67 not out to guide the team to a seven-wicket victory. Reflecting on Saha’s performance, Gujarat Titans mentor Gary Kirsten said that Saha understands his role in the team perfectly and plays really well in the powerplay.

"He (Saha) understands his game and plays really well in the powerplay. For us, he was always an important asset to have when we needed him and he has come in and done really well," Kirsten said in a virtual press conference.

"....I don't think there is any specific (thing) that we need to say to him because he knows how to play the powerplay really well. The most important thing is guys play to their strengths and abilities. He is a great player of the short ball."

The bowing unit of GT has been incredible this season. With quality bowlers like Rashid Khan, Mohammed Shami, and Joseph Alzarri they have the ability to trouble the batters using pace. Yash Deyal has also bowled really well for the franchise this season. He has scalped nine wickets from six matches so far. Also in the game against Chennai Super Kings, he conceded only eight runs in the penultimate over and Kirsten praised him for his bowling.

"Yash Dayal is an incredibly talented young player, to have a left-armer in your bowling (who) can bowl across all the 20 overs is important. So this is a great opportunity for us to use him in the 19th over and he bowled a great over, went for eight runs and that is real confidence for him," he signed off.
