âIPL 2024 | Twitter reacts to Patidar and RCB spinners dismantling high-rising SRH in their den
RCB ended their six-match loss drought with a thumping win against SRH away from home. Batting first, the visitors posted a total of 206 runs, courtesy of Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidarâs half-centuries. In reply, their spinners offered early wickets to set up a 35-run convincing victory.
Winning the toss Faf du Plessis elected to bat first and gave a rollicking start with Virat Kohli by muscling 43 runs in three overs before falling eventually. Subsequently, SRH bowlers conceded just 18 runs in the next three overs and Will Jacks succumbed to the pressure by getting cleaned up by Mayank Markande in the seventh over. Kohli struggled against the RCB spinners and Jaydev Unadkat but Rajat Patidar turned the tables with four successive sixes off Markande in the eleventh over. The Madhya Pradesh lad raced to an 18-ball fifty, the join-highest for the franchise before holing out in the deep in the 13th over. With ten runs and Kohliâs wicket coming off the next couple of overs, Mahipal Lomror, Cameron Green, and Dinesh Karthik consolidated for 37 runs in the next three overs with the score reading 179/5 in 18 overs. Although Karthik failed to put up a show, Green and Swapnil Singh propelled RCB to 206/7 in 20 overs.Â
Unlike the norm so far, SRH openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma failed to offer a flying start as Will Jacks outfoxed the former in the first over itself. Although Abhishek countered the RCB bowlers, Yash Dayal ultimately had the last laugh in the fourth over with the score 37/2 in four overs. In the next over, Swapnil Singh removed Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen despite spilling 19 runs, leading up to a powerplay score of 62/4. The hosts lost a couple of wickets in the next four overs for 37 runs before Pat Cummins produced an onslaught against Swapnil and Karn Sharma to take current run rate one run short of the ten runs per over mark. Subsequently, a quiet 13th over led to Cumminsâ dismissal in the 14th over, leading up to 132/7 in 15 overs. Eventually, they needed 63 off the last three overs, and Shahbaz Ahmedâs 37-ball 40 wasnât enough as RCB edged past with a 35-run victory, ending their losing drought.

He is a curse on T20 format.
Every nationalist should protest if he gets selected for T20 WC this year.
