The importance of fielding often gets shadowed by the essence of batting and bowling in cricket. However, Mitchell Santner’s scintillating grab served as a gentle reminder of the importance of fielding during the Northern Superchargers clash against the London Spirits in Headingley.

Winning the toss in a rain-delayed contest, the Superchargers’ decision to field first paid dividends initially as Reece Topley spelled his magic with the new ball. However, the left-arm pacer was thoroughly assisted by the fielding unit with Santner’s tremendous grasp stealing the spotlight inside the powerplay.

Having scored just a solitary boundary in the first couple of sets, Michael-Kyle Pepper intended to slog a fuller delivery outside the stumps over the inner circle. However, he missed to time the ball neatly and the white rock skewed over the mid on region high in the air. Satner at mid on, was sharp to kick off chasing the ball and ended up covering large ground to complete a catch with a giant dive. The fact that the New Zealand all-rounder followed the white cherry backward and completed the catch near the cushions, the Twitterverse erupted in appreciation.

What a catch!

Great catch!

Brilliant!

Hahaha!

What a take that tho!

Agreed with this!

Hmm!

Absolute stunner!

That's some catch!
