‌Jos Buttler likely to return for Red Rose’s Quarter Final encounter

Buttler, who was last seen in English colours during the 2024 T20 World Cup semi-final against India sustained a calf injury while preparing for the Originals in the Hundred. Right after, he was ruled out of the competition and worked with England's physio Craig de Weymarn in Bristol. 

"Another good session in the bank. Picking up injuries as a professional sportsman is always frustrating and I was gutted to miss the Hundred this year," Buttler wrote in an Instagram post.

The English white ball captain has not featured for the Red Rosses in the ongoing T20 Blast but is likely to return for the all-important Quarter Final against Sussex on September 4. 

“We should have everyone fit for the quarter-finals. Jos has been doing a lot of rehab. I've been in contact with him and he's very keen to play. We are happy to leave it down to the last day,” said Dale Benkenstein, coach of Lancashire. 

While Phil Salt and Saqib Mahmood were rested for Lancashire’s County Championship encounter against Sussex, they’re likely to return for the Quarter Final. Buttler will have to pass a last fitness test to be available for the knockout game. 

"He'll do a fitness test on the Monday, just before the game, and with the England physios and everyone giving him the green light, then he'll play. We are very keen that if he's fit and ready to go then he'll be playing,” added Benkenstein.
