The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) unveiled the 15-member squad representing India in the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the United Arab Emirates this October. Harmanpreet Kaur will captain the team, with Smriti Mandhana serving as the vice-captain for the Women in Blue.

‌The BCCI has announced the squad for the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup, which kicks off on October 3. The Women in Blue are grouped in Pool A alongside Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur will have vice-captain Smriti Mandhana by her side, with Mandhana expected to open the batting alongside Shafali Verma. Dayalan Hemalatha is another strong option for the top order. Additionally, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, and Richa Ghosh will further strengthen the batting lineup.

Richa Ghosh will take the lead in the wicketkeeping department, supported by Yastika Bhatia.

India’s bowling attack will rely on both pace and spin and is well-suited for the conditions in the UAE. The bowling unit includes Renuka Singh, Pooja Vastrakar, Deepti Sharma, Radha Yadav, Asha Sobhana, Sajana Sajeevan, and Shreyanka Patil. However, Patil's participation will depend on her recovery from a fracture sustained during the Asia Cup which forced her to miss the tournament.

The selections of Yastika Bhatia and Shreyanka Patil are also dependent on their fitness, as both have been recovering from injuries in recent months. Additionally, India will have three reserve players travelling to the UAE for the event.

India will play their first game against New Zealand on October 4th in Dubai.
