You often welcome your guests with good hospitality and gifts. Scott Boland didn’t quite have a similar thought when he stepped into the field as Josh Hazlewood’s replacement for the second Test but a no-ball denying Rahul’s wicket seemed more like a survival gift for the Indian batter.

Rohit Sharma didn’t quite hesitate to go by the norm of batting first in pink-ball Tests in Australia during the toss. However, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal failed to prove his skipper right by being outfoxed by Mitchell Starc on the first day of the Test match. While Shubman Gill, who came in next, caressed a few sumptuous drives, he saw unlimited drama when Scott Boland replaced Pat Cummins.

The first ball of the eighth over saw Boland come over the wicket and bowl a length ball around the fourth stump line. Rahul went at the nipping-in delivery with a half-hearted intent and ended up with a faint edge to the keeper. While the umpire raised the finger, signaling it out the Aussie enjoyment shortlived as the TV umpire realised Boland had overstepped on his first ball itself. The error did save Rahul but the focus shifted towards the dugout where India’s no. 4 Virat Kohli was seen jumping into the field to replace Rahul before the no-ball drama sent him back to the hut. The series of event in a single delivery caught the Twitterverse’s attention without a doubt.
