Bowling is an art and not everyone can paint a masterpiece regularly. But England’s Mark Wood took the challenge to implement two skills together and crafted a pacy in-swinger to uproot the middle stump of Kirk McKenzie as England faced off against West Indies in the third Test at Edgbaston.

After a couple of defeats in the Test series, West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite won the toss and elected to take advantage of batting conditions early. Their intent panned out well as Mikyle Louis accompanied the skipper to notch up a fifty-plus stand for the first wicket. Both individuals were watchful against the new ball and steadily paced the innings to withstand the majority of the morning session before Gus Atkinson drew first blood in the 22nd over. This opened the doors for Mark Wood as he produced a snorter to make further inroads in the West Indies dugout.

Following three fours off Atkinson to get off the mark in the 23rd over, McKenzie faltered to get going against Mark Wood in the latter’s second spell. The speedster bowled a fuller delivery from around the wicket on the third ball of the 24th over, that the southpaw intended to drive off the front foot. However, Wood held the seam like an in-swinger and executed his thoughts as the duke jagged in sharply after pitching to beat the inside edge and uproot the middle stump. McKenzie was spotted clueless with a 90 mph delivery swinging sharply while Wood was jubilated, having produced a snorter, and leaving the Twitterverse in awe.
