Cricket has been blessed with unbelievable talent across its centuries old history, yet few have managed to achieve the elusive fairytale farewell. Virat Kohli became one of the select few in Barbados as the newly crowned World Champion celebrated the end of his T20I career with a celebratory dance.

The 29th of June, 2024, will be etched in gold-plated letters in India's cricketing history as a day where records were broken and fairytales were written in unprecedented ways. However, amidst all the celebrations, there was an undertone of gloom as one of its greatest ever batters Virat Kohli took the moment to announce the end of his T20 career.

Kohli made his T20I debut for India in 2010 and ended up as the third highest run getter in history, with 4,188 runs in 125 games at an average of 48.69 and a strike rate of 137.04. Despite a rare horrid campaign, the 35-year-old stepped up to the plate when it mattered the most, securing the man of the match award in the final with a scintillating anchoring knock of 76 off 59 deliveries.

The veteran was clearly overtaken by emotion at having added the elusive trophy to his cabinet, after having reached the final in 2014, and celebrated the occasion accordingly. Kohli put on his dancing boots to put on a fine display of bhangra alongside Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Rinku Singh, and Mohammed Siraj amongst others while surrounded by cameras. Twitterati was quick to grasp the sentiment behind the emotional scenes and took to social media to express their adulation for one of the greatest ever to grace the game.
