While injuries play a major role in shaping an athlete’s career, it isn’t easy for an individual to rise through the setbacks. However, Rashid Khan proved his bold spirit after announcing his comeback with the bat by timing a no-look six for a maximum against Ireland in Sharjah on Sunday.

Reeling 1-0 behind in the three-match T20I series against Ireland, the Afghan Atalans won the toss and elected to bat first in the second match. Despite a rough start where the top order fell prey to viscous new ball bowling from Josh Little and Mark Adair, Sediqullah Atal, and Mohammad Nabi revived them to set up a good finish from the lower middle order with Rashid Khan’s no-look six taking Afghanistan to a respectable total.

On the final ball of the 18th over, Barry McCarthy dished a full toss at the middle and leg stump against Rashid who is playing his second competitive game since an injury return. The right-handed batter crouched inside the crease and timed the flick without even following the eyes towards the line of the ball. He used the pace of the ball efficiently as it went sailing over the deep backward square leg region for a six. Rashid is well known for his fancy strokeplay and this shot had a strong comeback written all over it, thereby prompting the Twitterverse into a frenzy.
