‌IPL 2024 | Twitter bashes Sunil Narine's lack of effort in bizarre run out against Sunrisers

Every fan in the IPL has one expectation from their team that they put in a proper effort while on the field of play. Sunil Narine, however, has not received that memo though as after attempting a suicidal run out, the Windies star made no attempt to make his crease against Hyderabad in Kolkata.

Winning his first toss as Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper, Pat Cummins opted to chase at Eden Gardens. After a Bhuvneshwar Kumar three-run over, Phil Salt decided that he would counter attack as he smashed Marco Jansen for three consecutive sixes. With the scoreboard reading 23 in under two overs, the hosts looked to have grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck. However, as the IPL has shown all these years, there is always a twist around the corner.

On the last ball of the over, Salt decided to play it safe as he guided a Jansen short delivery to backward point. As the ball travelled towards Shahbaz, Salt stood in his crease tracking the leather. While it looked like the over was done, Narine, for reasons unknown, was standing in the middle of the pitch looking for a single that was nowhere to be had. The Off spinner decided to turn back in order to make his crease but that was the extent of his effort. As Shahbaz took aim at the stumps, Narine decided he was not even going to attempt getting back and as the SRH all rounder got a direct hit in, his counterpart was nowhere to be seen.

The Twitteratti were not too pleased with Narine’s effort and vented out their frustrations.
