Lucknow Super Giants finished their IPL season on a high beating Mumbai Indians by 18 runs at the Wankhede. The visitors put up 214/6 on the back of Nicholas Pooran’s 75 off 29 while Rohit Sharma’s half-century went in vain as Mumbai lost quick wickets ultimately languishing at the bottom.

Choosing to bowl first, the Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya was backed by new ball bowler, Nuwan Thushara, who struck early, dismissing  Devdutt Padikkal in the first over. Despite the setback, KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis steadied the ship, guiding Lucknow to 49/2 in six overs. Misfortune continued for the visitors when Deepak Hooda failed to make an impact and departed in the 10th over with the scoreboard showing 69/3, leaving Nicholas Pooran and Rahul at the crease. Pooran then unleashed his power-hitting prowess, smashing a quickfire 43 off just 17 deliveries, taking the score to 130/3 by the 14th over. In a display of sheer brilliance, Pooran notched up a fifty in just 19 balls while Rahul reached his half-century in 37 balls, guiding the score to 170/2 by the 16th over. However, Thushara staged a comeback in the 17th over, claiming two crucial wickets while Chawla dismissed Rahul in the 18th over, causing a flurry of wickets for Lucknow Super Giants. Despite the stumble, a remarkable partnership of 36 runs off 17 deliveries between Ayush Badoni and Krunal Pandya propelled Lucknow's score to 214/6 by the end of their innings.

The Mumbai Indians got off to a fantastic start with Rohit Sharma and Dewald Brevis darting the score to 33/0 in just 3.5 overs. However, the game was interrupted for 50 minutes due to rain at the Wankhede Stadium, with the covers protecting the lush green field. Once play resumed with no overs lost, Brevis and Sharma resumed proceedings and the Indian skipper went on to score a quick 39 off 23 balls, bringing the score to 53/0 at the end of the powerplay. Soon, the 37-year-old received one of the loudest cheers from the Wankhede crowd as he reached his fifty in just 28 balls. The pair then accelerated taking the score to 88/1 in eight overs. However, the partnership was severed by Naveen-ul-Haq, who dismissed Brevis in the ninth over, halting the Mumbai Indians' pace. The mood further soured for the home side when Suryakumar Yadav fell for a duck in the 10th over, courtesy of Krunal Pandya. As Rohit Sharma departed after a stellar knock of 68 runs off 38 deliveries, the atmosphere at Wankhede Stadium turned sombre. The silence deepened as Mumbai Indians suffered successive blows with the quick dismissals of Hardik Pandya and Nehal Wadhera, leaving them at 135/5 after 16 overs. With 80 runs needed from just four overs, the focus shifted to Ishan Kishan and Naman Dhir to revive Mumbai's fortunes. However, the duo struggled only mustering 28 runs in the crucial 17th and 18th overs. As the game hung in the balance, Mumbai faced a daunting task of 34 runs off the final over. Despite Naman Dhir's brilliant 62 in 38 deliveries, Lucknow Super Giants emerged victorious by 18 runs, sealing their league campaign with a total of 14 points.
