In another rain-affected match, the game between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders in Guwahati was called off due to rain. Both teams were awarded one point each and this being the season's final game, Kolkata secured the top spot while the Royals slipped down to third following SRH's win.

‌A packed Barsapara crowd eagerly awaited the final game of this year's Indian Premier League league stage. The skies, initially cloudy, transformed into a downpour by toss time, forcing the covers onto the lush green ground. At around 8:35 PM IST, a brief respite from the rain brought cheers as the covers were removed. Yet, just as hope glimmered for a start, the rain gods had other plans, unleashing a heavier deluge that left puddles on the outfield, dashing any prospects of play.  However, at 10:07 PM IST, the rain ceased in Guwahati, prompting the removal of the square covers as match officials began inspecting the outfield. With a ray of hope, another ground inspection was scheduled for 10:25 PM, with the super sopper diligently at work.

With a miraculous job by the Guwahati groundsmen, the match officials immediately proceeded for the toss with a seven-over game in mind. In a brisk movement, the toss took place and Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Shreyas Iyer decided to bowl first with the game set to begin at 10:45 PM IST

As the on-field umpires prepared to step onto the ground, unfortunately, the rain returned, causing further delay. With the cut-off time for a five-over game looming at 10:56 PM, all aspirations were shattered by the sudden resurgence of rainfall. Moreover, with the persistent on-and-off showers, the match was ultimately called off.

The league stage thus concludes with the washout, placing Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the top four spots. Kolkata Knight Riders, leading with 20 points, will face Sunrisers Hyderabad (17 points) in Qualifier 1 on 21st May at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Additionally, Rajasthan Royals, also with 17 points, will clash with Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Eliminator game on 22nd May in Ahmedabad.
