‌Mumbai Indians felt the absence of Rohit Sharma at the top, with openers Ryan Rickelton and Will Jacks falling cheaply within the powerplay. However, Naman Dhir and Suryakumar Yadav steadied the innings and stitched together a vital partnership and took the score to 86/2 by the eighth over. The stand was eventually broken by Digvesh Singh Rathi, who dismissed Dhir just as Mumbai looked to accelerate. But Suryakumar Yadav looked in sublime touch, taking the attack to the LSG bowlers.
