Having Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli play together for India in the finals, and sharing emotional moments, every moment of the game was worth it. Moreover, it was also the last T20 match they played together.

Following India's win in the T20 World Cup 2024, both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli went on to announce their retirements. It was an emotional moment for them together, as they finally got a happy ending to their T20 career. Rohit ended his career with an ICC trophy as a captain, while Kohli won his first T20 World Cup.

After the match between India and South Africa in the T20 World Cup final, a lot of things went viral. Along with that, it is also the wholesome moments shared by Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli after India won the game.

While Virat Kohli was walking towards the Indian dugout, he came face to face with Rohit Sharma. Both of the players have spent a lot of time together in the Indian team. And watching them finally win a trophy together, they both shared an emotional hug together and tried their best to hide their tears of happiness.

Two years after the win, Rohit Sharma finally opened up about that viral hug between him and Virat Kohli. He said, “There was so much riding on both of us to take the team through, being the senior most in that squad and We have played a lot of cricket together. We did everything together and we have seen lot of setbacks as well with the world cups so for both of us we know it was our last T20 World Cup so it made it even more special.”

It was clear for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli that it would be their last T20 World Cup playing for India. And they were finally able to see a happy ending to the same, winning a trophy together for the Indian cricket team. Along with that, they both had ended their career on a high note, being the highest run scorers for India in the T20 format.

2. Virat on the Emotional Hug

While Rohit Sharma spoke about the emotional hug a few hours ago, Virat Kohli did it long back. After India had won the T20 World Cup 2024, the team visited the Wankhede Stadium for a felicitation. Virat Kohli, who won the POTM award in the final match, was called and he was also told about the ways in which he broke the internet with that win.

Following this, Kohli said, “I don't know about breaking the internet but this is the first time in 15 years of playing together that I've seen Rohit show so much emotions on the field. When I was walking up the steps, I was crying, he was crying, and we hugged. For me, that's going to be a very special memory from that day, because all said and done, after so many years, our only goal has been this. The only goal has been Indian cricket and the Indian flag. And that's what we take pride in.”

3. India's T20 World Cup 2024 Win

The final match of the T20 World Cup 2024 could never leave the minds of any Indian fan. After being heartbroken from the 2023 World Cup final loss, India turned the grief to happiness with the T20 World Cup. In the final match, India was batting first and put to the score of 34/3 in the beginning. But Virat Kohli’s 76 and Axar Patel's 47, helped India to score 176/7.

In the chase, South Africa did not have a good start as India struck early. Later on, Quinton de Kock, Tristan Stubbs, and Heinrich Klaasen troubled the Indian bowlers. Still, India was able to turn the game in the death overs, with Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh, and Jasprit Bumrah taking wickets. In the last over, Suryakumar Yadav took an impressive catch of David Miller, which sealed the game for the Indian cricket team.
